New Battlestar Galactica Model Kits coming in 2013

Moebius will be releasing a new series of pre-finished model kits based off the popular Battlestar Galactica sci-fi television series in 2013. First announced at Wonderfest 2012, the ships in the series come fully painted and assembled right out of the box.

Not surprisingly, the first ship to be offered is the Galactica. Assembled completely by hand, this model is based off the new era Battlestar Galactica show and is finished in 1:4105 scale, measuring about 12-inches long. The model sports a very detailed finishing and comes complete with a display stand. No assembly, or painting, of any kind is required.

Next up, the Viper MK II. Like the Galactica, this hand built ship is based off the new era Battlestar Galactica TV show. It comes assembled and painted right out of the box, comes complete with assorted pilots and is packaged in special launch-tube packaging that is perfect for display. The Viper MK II is built in 1:32 scale.

The final ship in the series, so far, will be the Viper MK VII. Again, like the other ships offered in this line, the Mark VII is based off the new era Battlestar Galactica television show, and comes pre-painted and assembled straight out of the box. Built completely by hand, in 1:32 scale, the Mark VII comes complete with both male and female pilots and a choice of call signs and Battlestar markings. It comes encased in special launch-tube packaging, perfect for display.

Each of these Moebius model kits will be available for purchase starting in January 2013, through online and speciality retailers. Priced at around $55, several sites already have these three new era spacecraft available for pre-order, for those fans who want to make sure they get their hands on them. If you want to do the same, simply follow the links below over to Entertainment Earth and secure yourself a set.

2013 certainly seems to be shaping up to be another exciting year for collectors, and these three pre-assembled Battlestar Galactica model kits are simply further proof of that...

Review: Star Wars: Shadow Games

Star Wars novels sure have come a long way since Timothy Zhan first penned Heir to the Empire, the first Expanded Universe novel ever wrote, in 1992 and since then, George Lucas' Galaxy Far, Far Away has undergone some major and significant changes. New threats have arisen, major characters within have met their demise and the next generation of Jedi Knights has come about.

While some of these stories, such as Karen Traviss' Republic Commando series, are simply amazing and seem to embody everything fans love about the Star Wars Universe. Others, such as James Luceno's Cloak of Deception, appear to consist of the few things within that same universe that fans could do without.

Fortunately, the latest addition to my bookshelf, Star Wars: Shadow Games falls within the first category. Wrote by former Batman: The Animated Series writer Michael Reaves and Maya Kaathryn Bohmhoff, the story brings a fan-favourite smuggler back to the Expanded Universe in the form of Dash Rendar, whom many fans will recognise as the main character within the Shadows of the Empire story arc from back in 1996.

As the story unfolds, we find Dash broke and desperate for credits. As such, he, along with his accomplice Eaden Vrill and repair droid, Leebo, agree to take jobs as body guards for Javul Charn, the most famous pop star in the galaxy, and the run-away bride of a violent lieutenant within Black Sun, a criminal organization commanded by Prince Xizor.

     Or, so Javul says.

As the story progresses, Dash soon discovers someone with murderous intent is stalking the pop star's tour. Dash confronts Javul for some answers, but soon discovers that openness is not one of the girl's strong suits. Thus, it is all up to Dash, Eaden and Leebo to discover who is stalking their group, and why.

Then, when fellow smuggler Han Solo joins the group, the stakes seem to rise even higher. Not only is the group pursued by both Black Sun and the Galactic Empire, but also a crazed Anomid bounty hunter named Edge, who has a connection with Eaden Vrill's past.Dash is then forced to follow his instincts, and push feelings of anger and revenge aside in an effort to protect his employer, and soon discovers that she isn't exactly who she claims to be.

This puts Dash, and even Juval Charn herself, on a path that leads into a world that neither of them may be able to survive...

To sum it up, Star Wars: Shadow Games is easily one of the best books within the Expanded Universe that I have ever read. Not only does it bring Dash Rendar back into action, but the story itself was clear, concise and flowed very nicely. The events of the story, which take place between the events of Reaves' other amazing Star Wars novel, Death Star and the film A New Hope, are engaging and action packed. This was a real page-turner that I finished very quickly. I just couldn't put it down!

Michael Reaves has once again delivered a fun, and fast-paced story that all Star Wars fans are sure to love. Like other great stories within the Expanded Universe by great authors like Timothy Zhan and Karen Traviss, Shadow Games seems to embody everything that fans love about that Galaxy so Far, Far Away, while leaving everything the fans don't like off to the side, for some other author to pick up.

If you're looking for a fast-paced, action packed and engaging read within the Star Wars Universe, look no further then Michael Reaves' Shadow Games. It holds true to the atmosphere of the original trilogy, features many beloved and fun characters and is simply just one thrill ride of a read...

Mastermind Creations Reveals Project Bull Prototype

Well, it looks like there will be more than one third party Predaking figure to choose from in 2013. First, there is the Unique Toys Warlord Beasticon, which was revealed a few weeks back. Now, Mastermind Creations, the same company behind Knight Morpher Commander (HoS Optimus Prime) and Cyclops (HoS Shockwave), will be releasing their own version of the Decepticon combiner known as the Reformatted Ferocicons.

The first of the combiners for Mastermind's upcoming set has now been revealed in prototype form - Project Bull - AKA - Not Tantrum. First teased to fans during the 2012 TFCon 3rd Party Panel, Project Bull gives us our first good look at the type of design aesthetic these figures will have.

Shown in the pictures posted below, we get a nice look at Project Bull in Beast Mode, with his G1-inspired weapons, a G1-style foot cannon and daggers, attached. We also get a good look at the figure in both leg and robot mode. As an extra treat, we also get a first look at the combined modes  Oppenheimer sword, which pretty much dwarfs Voyager class Optimus Prime.

It will be very interesting to compare both the third party Predaking figures once they are up for purchase. What we've seen so far from both company's looks to be very promising, but I guess we'll have to wait a bit longer to decide which of the two is the better unlicensed combiner.

Enjoy the Project Bull pictures posted below. We will have more on this exciting story as it develops.

NECA Reveals 2013 Aliens Figures

NECA has certainly had their hands full this week. Since Monday, they have been teasing fans with pictures of figures from their upcoming Aliens line, set to hit retail in Spring 2013. And, from what we've been shown so far, they look amazing.

Honestly, however, this really doesn't come as too much of a surprise. We are talking about the same company that makes some of the most amazing Predator figures ever seen, after all, so for them to do the same with its sister franchise just makes sense.

So far, NECA has revealed three different pieces. First, Marines Dwayne Hicks and William Hudson. Both will stand about 6-inches tall and sport at least 20-points of articulation. Hicks will come complete with a shotgun, pulse rifle holster and welder, while Hudson will come packed alongside a pulse rifle, motion tracker and torch. Each figure will also come in a variant form and include helmets, equipment, damage and different facial expressions. NECA has stated that, yes, more Marines are planned. Apparently, they want to do all the Marines from the Aliens film, but as to who is coming next, NECA is keeping that under wraps for now and not admitting which character likenesses they have the rights to at this moment.

William Hudson - early painted sample. Game Over version...

Finally, came something fans went nuts for - a new Alien Warrior! NECA says this figure will be most impressive, with over 30-points of articulation. Not only that, but the company has also revealed that they will be producing a hive worth of Alien variant figures over the course of the line!

So far, these are the only three pieces that NECA has revealed, but rumours speculate that we will see Series 2 at Toy Fair in February, but no official word has been announced at this time. Rumours also abound that we will see Aliens 2-packs, but again, no official word has been announced.

So, there you have it, the company that has brought us eight amazing series of different Predators is, once again, dipping their hands into the Alien franchise and it seems as though, once again, the final products will please even the most die hard Aliens fans!

Well, that's it for now. Look for the first series of Aliens figures to be hitting retail in Spring 2013. Until then, enjoyed the posted pictures and start saving your money!

Kotobukiya Reveals New 52 Wonder Woman Statue

Last week, Kotobukiya released an interesting teaser image of their upcoming New 52 Wonder Woman ArtFX+ statue. Well, today, the Japanese import company has fully revealed the statue in all its amazing glory!

Born of Zeus and Hippolyta, Diana was a princess on the paradise island of Themyscira before venturing out into the wider world of humanity. Her first major appearance (in the relaunched New 52 continuity) was the great battle against Darkseid’s Parademons in which she teamed up with other heroes to form the Justice League.

Diana wears her iconic New 52 costume, as portrayed by Jim Lee in Geoff Johns' Justice League: Origins. Along with her stars and stripes bodice, Wonder Woman sports full pants and tall boots. Her left hand is sculpted into a fist, near the short sword at her back, while her right hand rests over her Lasso of Truth. And no Wonder Woman would be complete without her bracelets and tiara! The Amazon princess features intricate sculpted details in her unique outfit from the stars and eagle design on her top to the subtle armour and panelling on her pants and the creases in her boots. Diana’s face captures both the character’s beauty and determination.

She stands 7.5-inches tall, includes magnets in her feet for perfect stability on her included display base, and was sculpted by master artist Atelier Bamboo. Wonder Woman is sure to look great alongside the other members of the Kotobukiya Justice League statue series!

The Wonder Woman ArtFX+ statue is slated for release in June 2013...
Until then, enjoy the images posted below...

NECA Reveals Camo Cloaked Falconer Predator

Series 7 of NECA's popular Predator line is shaping up to be one of the best waves the line has ever seen. Now we get a closer look at another Predator in the seventh series - the Camo Cloaked Falconer Predator.

Back in the first line of Predator figures, NECA released a Falconer Predator from the 2010 Predators movie, but this new version captures the mid-cloaking effect and includes the long awaited Predator bird accessory which features 2 removable blades that can also be used by the Falconer Predator on his right forearm.

The figure will feature multiple points of articulation, superb attention to detail and stand about 7-inches tall.
