Tomb Raider Reboot Seeks Female Director

Rumors have been circulating that Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski is in early talks to direct the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot for MGM, but it looks as though the studio has other plans.

The script for the movie, penned by Evan Daugherty, is finished and is now being shipped around to directors. MGM is apparently looking for a female director, akin to Breaking Bad helmer Michelle Maclaren.

The reboot is on a fast track, and is said to be similar to the 2013 video game, which saw gamers following a younger Lara Croft while she fought for survival on a deadly island following a shipwreck.

What do you guys think? Who would you like to see in the director's chair for the Tomb Raider reboot?

TNT Teen Titans Series Postponed

Well, it sounds as though fans will have to wait a little longer for TNT's upcoming Teen Titans live-action TV series. Entitled Blackbirds, the series will focus on Dick Grayson's transition from Robin to Nightwing, as well as the formation of a team consisting of Raven, Hawk, Dove and others.

Initially, the show was expected to shoot this summer in Toronto, Ontario. While the shooting location remains the same, and the show is still very much alive over at the TNT network, it will now shoot in October. Another TNT pilot, Animal Kingdom, will shoot in Toronto this summer.

Sadly, this means we'll probably have to wait a little bit longer for a casting announcement as well.

More info as it becomes available.

The Blackbirds pilot was penned by Akiva Goldsman and Marc Haimes.

SDCC G.I. Joe Desert Duel Details Released

Hasbro has released in details for their San Diego Comic Con exclusive G.I. Joe Desert Duel box set.
It really seems as though Hasbro is trying to make amends with fans and collectors after dropping the ball on the brand's 50th anniversary.

Check it out, in full, below...

It’s a fast-firing, high-rolling G.I. JOE-Cobra battle with this DESERT DUEL pack. Complete with a Cobra Basilisk tank and an Elite Horseman figure to drive it, fans can load missiles in the elevating, rotating launcher, making the set’s Cobra Air Trooper figure a rolling nightmare for the G.I. JOE commandos. But with the included Philip “Chuckles” Provost figure, kids and collectors can fold out the camouflage canopy on the F.O.E. Striker 4-wheeler and take aim at enemies with the poseable cannon. And, if the pack’s Night Fox figure has to pursue enemies on foot, the cannon comes off the vehicle. Available only at the Comic Convention and online at Toysrus.com/ComicConvention.

An adventure in a box, the G.I. Joe Desert Duel box set is sure to fill the space in a few collections, and offer plenty of fun and excitement for fans both new and old!

Jurassic World Wins The Weekend Again

Jurassic World is the box office king for a third week in a row. The Chris Pratt led dinosaur sequel grossed $54.2-Million in its third week on the big screen, bringing its domestic total to an extremely impressive $500-Million.

Overseas, the dinosaurs have once again topped the foreign chart with $82.5-Million from 66 markets for an offshore total of $737.5-Million and global haul of $1.238-Billion.

Jurassic World is now the top grossing movie of 2015. It is only the fifth movie in history to reach $500-Million at the domestic box office, joining the likes of The Dark Knight, The Avengers, Titanic and Avatar.

Unsurprisingly, there has been talk of a sequel, which will once again invoke the likes of Colin Trevorrow (although he won't direct), Frank Marshall and leading man Chris Pratt. They may be early talks, but given the impressive numbers generated by Jurassic World, you can expect to see more of InGen's genetically modified dinosaurs on the big screen in the very near future.

The Secret Warriors Are Coming to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Get ready, Marvelites! Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is prepping to introduce the Secret Warriors when it returns to ABC for Season 3 this coming Fall.

Avid Marvel Comics readers will know the Secret Warriors are a team of superpowered agents assembled by Nick Fury — including Daisy “Quake” Johnson (played by Chloe Bennet on the show). These special individuals are drawn from Fury’s Caterpillar initiative (which eagle-eyed viewers may have spotted an easter egg for in the season two finale) — made up of people with potential abilities who have remained hidden and thus are less likely to be compromised by their enemies.

Following their battle with Jiaying and the Inhumans, Director Coulson will search the world for more powered people and assemble an extraordinary team to deal with threats unlike any the world has ever seen. However, the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will soon find out they’re not the only ones tracking down these new Inhumans.

More about the Secret Warriors and their inclusion in the upcoming season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be revealed during the Marvel Television Presents panel at San Diego Comic Con on Friday, July 10 from 3:00 PM – 4:15PM in Ballroom 20.

Is Punisher The Big Bad For Daredevil Season 2?

Earlier this month it was announced that Jon Bernthal would be playing the Punisher in Season 2 of Marvel's hugely popular Daredevil Netflix series. So, with Frank Castle now on his way to Hell's Kitchen, you have to know it won't be long before he dukes it out with Daredevil.

What will the Punisher's role be in Season 2 of Daredevil exactly? Well, sources have informed our friends over at The Nerdist that newly appointed co-showrunner Marco Ramirez is referring to season two as Daredevil vs. the Punisher. Does this make Frank Castle the big bad of Season 2?

Well, Matt Murdock has now vowed not to kill in the name of justice. This puts the character at odds with Castle's take-no-prisoners style of vigilante justice. However the Daredevil vs. the Punisher reference seems to allude to a philosophical battle that’ll take place over the season.

With Wilson Fisk behind bars, the villains are sure to come crawling out of the shadows in an effort to fill the Kingpin's place, but Frank Castle will no doubt show up in an attempt to take them all out - something that is certainly not going to sit well with Matt Murdock.

So, if the Punisher isn't the main villain in Season 2, who is? With it all but confirmed that Bullseye will appear next season, we're guessing it'll be him. Elektra is also said to appear, so perhaps she'll end up killed at the hands of Bullseye an the two vigilantes will team up to take him down.

Whatever the case may be, we agree with The Nerdist when the say be sure to re-read Daredevil vs. Punisher: Means & Ends in preparation for Daredevil Season 2.

Jessica Lucas Joins Gotham As Tigress

Well, that didn't take long at all, did it? Days after it was announced that James Frain was to play hell-bent billionaire industrialist Theo Galavan on Gotham, TVLine has learned that Jessica Lucas has been cast in the role of his sister Tabitha Galavan aka Tigress.

The character is described as the lead enforcer for her brother. She is both sexy and violent — and toting a bullwhip! — she’s the opposite of her cold and calculating brother, deriving a sensual pleasure from the mayhem she’s tasked with making.

Jessica Lucas is known for roles on Cult, 90210 and CSI.

Gotham returns for Season 2 on September 21, 2015.

    New Supergirl Trailer Released

Greg Berlanti's Supergirl is one of the most anticipated TV shows of the upcoming Fall season. Starring Melissa Benoist as the titular DC Comics heroine, the show looks to further prove why DC Entertainment rules the small screen!

In the vast DC Comics Universe of super heroes, the rich mythology of Superman, the planet Krypton and the House of El is perhaps the most famous and instantly recognizable. Enter Supergirl (Melissa Benoist). Born Kara Zor-El on the doomed planet Krypton, the preteen Kara escaped at the same time as the infant Kal-El, but didn't arrive on Earth until many years later after being lost in the Phantom Zone. Protected and raised by her adopted family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex, and learned to hide the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin. Years later, at age 24, living in National City and working as an assistant for Catco Worldwide Media mogul Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart), Kara has spent so many years trying to fit in that she forgot to ever stand out. All that changes when she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and become the hero she was always destined to be.

Now, Global has released a brand new trailer for the upcoming show, set to premiere this Fall! The trailer leaked online a few weeks back, along with the actual pilot episode, but both were quickly taken down.

Check out the officially released trailer below...

Fans seem to have mixed reactions about the upcoming show, but we can't wait to see what Berlanti and his crew have planned for Superman's cousin. If shows like Arrow and The Flash are any indication, we're guessing fans are in for a real treat when Supergirl debuts October 26, 2015.
