Lucy Lawless Talks Xena Reboot

This week at the TCA, actress Lucy Lawless, who played the titular character in the popular 90's spinoff Xena: Warrior Princess, revealed that the reboot talk is nothing more than rumors right now.

“But they could be doing it without us, they have the right to, don’t they?” she said. “But we are not. I’d love to see it happen and I know that NBC wants to do it, but they’re just trying to find a way and a time.”

Lawless also revealed that she'd previously looked into rebooting the series herself, but legal issues prevented it from getting off the ground.

Bruce Boxleitner Done With Tron

Not long before San Diego Comic Con, it was announced that Disney had pulled the plug on a third Tron movie. Labelled Tron Ascension, it was scheduled to begin filming this October in Vancouver, British Columbia before being scrapped.

However, it's not just the fans who are upset to not be returning to The Grid anytime soon. Tron himself, actor Bruce Boxleitner, recently shared his feelings on the cancellation of the movie while speaking with /Film:

"I'm done with it. I've moved on. I hate to say that but it's been too up and down for me. I would rather not just keep going. I don't want to repeat my career anymore. That'd be like, 'Let's reboot Scarecrow and Mrs. King.' No, I'm not interested. Or Babylon 5.

[I was] very much surprised [by the cancellation]. Not that I was privy to anything, but once in a while I got little snippets of information. Since we shoot Cedar Cove in Vancouver, I did hear a lot from up there. There's several publications and blogs that are about what jobs are coming, what films are in preproduction, stuff like that. TRON was always on those lists. They were very close to actually shooting.

It breaks my heart, but I understand the times move on. Disney, it's not in their [wheelhouse] anymore. The animated series [had] a lot of promise, they didn't stick with that either. I don't think they really want it anymore. I think they've got Star Wars. They've got Marvel. Legacy was successful. I'm not sure that they really had that much interest anymore. I hate to say that because I think there's a lot more to go."

Sad indeed! While some at Disney feel a third Tron could be made, it won't be for a long time as the studio's schedule is jam-packed, for at least the next few years, with projects.

Jena Malone's Batman v Superman Role Revealed

Jena Malon's role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has been a mystery from Day 1. Many figured she'd be playing Carrie Kelley, the female Robin from Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns, given the inspiration the film will take from the classic DC Comics tale.

However, it looks like our friends over at Latino Review have uncovered the mystery role, and it`s not Robin after all.

Three separate sources have informed Latino Review that Malone will in fact be playing Barbara Gordon in the upcoming superhero showdown.

Now, while this is the character she will apparently portray, it is currently unknown if Snyder`s version of the character will be taking up the role of either Batgirl or Oracle in the film.

Be sure to let us know what you think of this casting choice, Infinite Earths fans!

Starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Jena Malone, Tao Okamoto, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice arrives in theaters on March 25, 2016.

Gotham Producer Talks Villains

The first TV spots for Season 2 of Gotham promise that the upcoming episodes will serve as the 'Rise of the Villains'. We know we'll see more involving the future Joker, but the question remains what new villains will we see come next season?

Show producer and director Danny Cannon recently sat down with blastr to discuss the show, which will feature a few more new faces in the Rogues department.

"We find the Mr. Freeze story very emotional. So that's one we are going to look at. Hugo Strange is a very interesting character who has never had an origin story, as is the Calendar Man. Azrael is a character we are starting very, very, very way back. And Tigress also."

He also briefly discussed the character of Barbara Kean, who looks to be ending up in Arkham Asylum along with Jerome, the young boy fans are convinced will become the future Clown Prince of Crime. "Barbara Kean is also put in there the first episode. It's in the wing of Arkham where the worst of the worst are kept. And an event happens that allows him to be involved in the next few episodes."

Actress Erin Richards, who plays Barbara, also chimed in on how she feels her character is going to handle her new situation taking up space in Arkham Asylum: "She has no concept of what's happening. She goes into Arkham and she meets all these characters, one of which is Jerome. These characters are going to shape her a little bit. They all shape the way Barbara develops in this series. But, she's also kind of at the reins. She's so free and in touch with her real stuff now. And her skill is she knows everyone's weakness. She will just play along with each individual person until she gets what she wants. She's going to be really powerful, which is exciting."

Gotham returns Monday, September 21, 2015 at 8 p.m. on Fox.

Ivan Reitman Sets Ghostbusters Record Straight

Recently, screenwriter Drew Pearce discussed the possibility of an expanded Ghostbusters universe, one that would feature a film with an all-male cast featuring the likes of Channing Tatum and Chris Pratt. However, he admitted whether this Ghostbusters Cinematic Universe actually happens is out of his hands.

In the wake of these developments, Ivan Reitman has issued a statement on what fans should expect from the franchise, which will reboot next summer with Paul Feig’s all-female flick.

“There has been a lot of excitement recently about what is happening with the Ghostbusters franchise. As the producer of the new Ghostbusters film, I feel the need to clarify. There is only one new Ghostbusters movie and that is the Paul Feig directed version coming next July, presently filming and going fantastically. The rest is just noise,” Reitman said.

Interestingly, Pearce revealed this week that he had also worked on a Ghostbusters Bible that would include a mixed gender team. “I’ve finished my work on that in the last couple weeks. Obviously it’s top secret, but there’s a gigantic bold idea that I came up with, and the Russo brothers — who did Captain America: The Winter Soldier and are doing Civil War at the moment — and Ivan Reitman, who did the original movie, are going to take that and run with it,” he told MTV.

He later  clarified on Twitter that no script had been written.

Whatever the case may be, we're guessing that Sony is going to sit back and see how Paul Feig's film, which stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon does in theaters next summer before moving ahead with any sequel plans.

Are New Star Wars Shows Coming to Netflix?

After the success of Daredevil this year, it is rumored that Disney is now looking to strike a deal with Netflix to bring live-action Star Wars shows to the popular streaming service.

There are potentially three series currently in the works.

This is not the first time that Netflix has served as the outlet for something Star Wars related. The video on demand service recently served as the exclusive  host for the final season of The Clone Wars.

While there has been talk of the live-action Star Wars show for quite some time now, and it obviously makes sense for Lucasfilm to follow Marvel into the Netflix library, for now, this is nothing but a rumor.

Jurassic World 2 May Be Off-Island

While Colin Trevorrow will be passing on the job of director for the Jurassic World sequel to someone else, he recently spoke with Wire UK about a possible plot for the film that he and screenwriter Derek Connolly will be working on.

"I feel like the idea that this isn't always going to be limited to theme parks, and there are applications for this science that reach far beyond entertainment. And when you look back at nuclear power and how that started, the first instinct was to weaponise it and later on we found it could be used for energy," said Trevorrow.

"And this isn’t something necessarily that was in the book but is a seed that I wanted to plant in this movie, is that might be able to grow in more of these movies if they decide to make more of them, is: What if this went open source? It's almost like InGen is Mac, but what if PC gets their hands on it? What if there are 15 different entities around the world who can make a dinosaur?"

"And Dr Wu says in the film, when he's warning Dr Masrani, 'we’re not always going to be the only ones who can make a dinosaur'. I think that’s an interesting idea that even if we don’t explore fully in this film, there is room for this universe to expand. I shouldn’t use the word universe, because people will think we’re making a Jurassic World universe -- we’re not."

Aside from writing the story for the next dino-mite flick, Colin will also be joining original Jurassic Park director Steven Spielberg as an executive producer on the film. Frank Marshall, who also worked on the most recent addition to the iconic franchise, will also return to supervise the film's production.

Official news of a sequel broke last Thursday afternoon. Given the success of Jurassic World at the box office this summer, where it became the third highest grossing movie of all time, this didn't come as much of a surprise.

We were still very excited, and can't wait to see what's planned for the fifth JP movie.

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will be returning in the next movie, which will arrive in theaters on June 22, 2018.

Marvel Announces New Spidey Comic Series

Marvel has announced a brand new comic book series set in Peter Parker's teenaged past. Called simply Spidey, the new series will be written by Robbie Thompson, with art by Wolverine and the X-Men artist Nick Bradshaw, and take place at the very start of Parker's crime-fighting career.

"I think the book is actually best summed up in the tagline Marvel created for it: Before he was Amazing … he was Spidey," Thompson told ComicBook.com. "For me, that’s been a huge appeal of working on the book — getting to go back to the high school years and shine a light on the early days of Peter Parker’s journey to becoming Spider-Man and doing it in an old-school fashion — single issues, each one telling their own story."

"This is a chance to go back to that vibe and energy and see Peter struggle to fit in at school, while trying to make a name for himself as a hero," Thompson said. "There are complex and personal stories still left to be found in those years, and I’m thrilled to be a part of the team bringing them to the page."

Spidey swings into action this Fall.
