Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been in theatres for almost a month and a half now and its impressive box office numbers continue to climb with each passing day.
In fact, the film, directed by J.J. Abrams, has been doing so well that analysts predict the film could reach an astronomical $2-Billion worldwide by the end of this week.
“The box office performance of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ shows just how much ‘Star Wars’ is part of the DNA of moviegoers in North America,” said senior media analyst Paul Dergarabedian. “It shows how important legacy can be for a movie because there’s been an incredible enthusiasm for this one.”
This weekend, the film brought in $10.8-Million domestically. Thus, its domestic total now sits at $895.4-Million, or $125-Million more than James Cameron's Avatar.
Internationally, the numbers are just as impressive. This weekend, The Force Awakens brought in $12.6-Million and now sits at $1.09-Billion overseas.
Thus, the seventh chapter of the iconic space saga has brought in $1.983-Billion globally and needs only $17-Million more to make it past $2-Billion.
The Force truly is strong with Star Wars.
