Tim Miller Speeds Over To Sony's Sonic The Hedgehog

Just over a week since he departed Deadpool 2, director Tim Miller has set his sights on a brand new project - Sony's Sonic The Hedgehog movie.

Miller, along with long-time Blur Studios collaborator Jeff Fowler have been tapped to work on the project, which will serve as the directorial debut for Fowler. Miller will serve as an executive producer, and the pair will work closely with Neal H. Moritz who is producing.

Based off the classic video game franchise, which was first launched on the Sega Genesis gaming console back in 1991, Sonic The Hedgehog is one of the World's biggest gaming icons. Over 350-Million Sonic games have been sold across the globe since 1991.

The new movie is set to be a hybrid CG-animated/live-action family adventure.

Patrick Casey and Josh Miller are writing the script while Takeshi Ito and Mie Onishi will also produce. Joining Miller as executive producer is Toby Ascher. Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons of DJ2 Entertainment will serve as co-producers.

Rick Famuyiwa Departs The Flash

The Flash has lost another director.

Rick Famuyiwa has exited the project due to ‘creative differences’ with Warner Bros.

Famuyiwa took over for previous director Seth Grahame-Smith earlier this year, and had been working on the film for the past few months, actively updating his work over social media. With the departure of a second director, it is highly likely that the film will now be delayed.

The Flash was to begin production in March, with a release date set for March 16, 2018.

Famuyiwa issued the following statement earlier today...

“When I was approached by Warner Bros and DC about the possibility of directing The Flash, I was excited about the opportunity to enter this amazing world of characters that I loved growing up, and still do to this day."

"I was also excited to work with Ezra Miller, who is a phenomenal young actor. I pitched a version of the film in line with my voice, humor, and heart. While it’s disappointing that we couldn’t come together creatively on the project, I remain grateful for the opportunity. I will continue to look for opportunities to tell stories that speak to a fresh generational, topical, and multicultural point of view. I wish Warner Brothers, DC, Jon Berg, Geoff Johns, and Ezra Miller all the best as they continue their journey into the speed force.”

Sources say that the director's more edgier vision for The Flash clashed with the studio's take.

With Famuyiwa now off the project, who would you like to see take his place?

Fassbender To Play Two Androids In Alien: Covenant

Earlier today, word broke that Alien: Covenant would once again feature Guy Pearce in the role of Peter Weyland. Now, more information surrounding the film has been revealed thanks to Michael Fassbender, who revealed some new information regarding his involvement with the film.

Speaking with The Irish Times, Fassbender divulged that he'll actually be playing two Androids in the film, David 8, last seen in Prometheus, and Walter respectively.

“I am allowed to say I am playing two robots – Walter and David. I think what’s great about it is that Ridley has gone back to the original DNA of Alien, the horror element of that. But is also has the scope and the scale of Prometheus. Ridley has cut it already. He is a machine. He is an incredible human being and he was in such good form. He is such an imaginative and mischievous figure.”

The publication went on to reveal that Walter will be a newer Android model. He is also more humane, and as such, clashes with David. Walter doesn't trust the older Android due to the fact that he has gone without any form of maintenance or upgrades during the ten year interval he has been in isolation between the Prometheus incident and the Covenant crew arriving on the paradise planet where Alien: Covenant takes place.

Fassbender's words should excite fans of the Alien franchise, especially when it comes to director Ridley Scott going back to the DNA that made his original 1979 film so masterful.

Alien: Covenant hits theaters on August 4th, 2017.

Jesse Quick May Appear In The DC TV Musical Crossover

It was just a few months ago that fans were told that, along with the highly anticipated four-part DC TV crossover this year, they would also be getting a musical episode centered around The Flash and Supergirl respectively. During a panel at the MCM London Comic Con, actress Violett Beane, who plays Jesse Quick on The Flash, was asked what the chances were that her character could be appearing in the early 2017 episode.

Beane, whose character recently acquired superpowers and helped Barry defeat the likes of Magenta and Mirror Master in a pair of recent episodes on The Flash, seemed quite optimistic about her chances of appearing in the musical crossover.

“Yeah, I think it could be really cool. There’s not much information on how they’re going to do this, why they’re going to do it, or when, but I would love to be a part of it. When Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg came up for a dinner in Vancouver, all I’m going to say is Greg Berlanti asked me if I could sing. So it’s definitely a possibility that I’m going to be part of it.”

You can check out her full interview posted below...

What do you think, Infinite Earths fans? Would you like to see Jesse Quick join the likes of the Scarlet Speedster and the Maiden Of Might in the upcoming DC TV musical crossover next year?

Guy Pearce To Return For Alien: Covenant

In 2012, director Ridley Scott returned to the Alien Universe with Prometheus. Set well before the events of the original 1979 film, the prequel introduced new characters and concepts that had yet to be seen within the iconic film franchise.

Next year, audiences will travel back to said universe with Alien: Covenant, which will begin to bridge the gap to Scott's 1979 masterpiece and bring back some familiar faces in the form of Michael Fassbender, Noomi Repace - and Guy Pearce.

That's right, Infinite Earths fans! Our friends over at AVP Galaxy have learned that Guy Pearce will be returning as Peter Weyland, whom we last saw in Prometheus. According to the site, Peace will portray a younger version of the character in a flashback sequence that will be used to open the new film. Apparently the scene will involve Weyland testing the Android David 8 when the two end up getting into a conversation about God.

According to AVP Galaxy:

David explains that it is about God’s abandoning their creations due their displeasure with their creation’s greed and vanity, only to realize that the Gods themselves sharing the same flaws. This leads to David and Peter discussing Gods and creations and human mortality which strikes a chord with Weyland.

Should this take place, it would be the perfect way to further explore the character's interest in finding the Engineers. In Prometheus, it is Weyland who approves the expedition to LV-223 with the hope that an encounter with the beings could somehow grant him a longer life.

Alien: Covenant hits theaters on August 4th, 2017.

Jason O'Mara Discusses Justice League Dark

Actor Jason O'Mara has his hands full with plenty of comic book based projects these days. While most fans will recognize him as Director Jeffrey Mace on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.LD., it is also worth noting that the Terra Nova star has also voiced The Caped Crusader in six DC Animated Original Movies. These include Justice League: War, Son of Batman, Justice League: Throne of Atlantis, Batman vs. Robin, Batman: Bad Bloodand Justice League vs. Teen Titans respectively.

During a recent interview with Empire, O'Mara was kind enough to open up about being part of the two largest multimedia brands the world over.

"It’s really not a problem. I mean the thing is, you know, I’ve had this DC commitment now for the past couple of years. For me, from my point of view, I go in, I record a Batman movie in one day, I might go back a few months later for another day. Then, once it comes out, I’ll go and promote it. It’s really not a huge commitment in terms of time."

"Because it’s DC and because it’s Batman, I think some fans think it’s kind of amusing that I’m also playing the Director on S.H.I.E.L.D. Listen, the rivalry is a healthy thing and I think as long as it stays friendly and in the spirit of good fun and people get a kick out of it, then great."

O'Mara returns to the role of Batman for Justice League Dark early next year, and he was more than willing to discuss the role that the Caped Crusader plays in the upcoming animated feature.

"It’s kind of appropriate to me that Batman is still a part of the Justice League Dark story. I think it would be strange if any of the other Justice League characters were involved in putting together this kind of motley crew of dead people and mediums and ghosts and demons and phantoms. Batman should be in the middle of that. He’s very skeptical, though. He’s very skeptical about magic. It’s all nonsense to him. He’s the smartest superhero ever as far as I can make out, and he’s smart enough to know he’s going to need help with this seemingly unsolvable mystery, these demons and why some people can see them and some people cannot. That help comes to him through a tip from Deadman, which is that he basically needs to get in touch with John Constantine. Then, once Batman gets Constantine involved, it’s really Constantine’s movie. Batman is there to sort of hold his hand, if you like. Constantine takes the focus, but that’s good for Batman. Those are the situations where Batman comes alive."

He would go on to reveal how familiar he was with the source material, and even shared his thoughts on the cancellation of Constantine over at NBC.

"I had heard about it, but I don't think I'd ever read or seen a full story start to finish of Justice League Dark. I know it's a fan favorite. I was intrigued when I heard they were doing it, because I think it's a great concept. I also think it's a bit of an opportunity for Constantine to come back into popular culture. That show was yanked away too soon. I think the fans are going to get a kick out this one. And the good thing is that Constantine does like to talk, whereas Batman would rather kind of just make remarks."

Featuring the voice talents of Matt Ryan, Camilla Ludington, Nicholas Turturro, Jason O'Mara and Ray Chase, Justice League Dark arrives on Blu-Ray and DVD early next year.
