Kevin Feige Confirms Venom Isn't Part Of MCU

Fans have been speculating about this for a few months now, but Kevin Feige has officially confirmed that the upcoming Venom spinoff is NOT part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Marvel Studios head broke the news during a recent interview with AlloCine.

"For now, there is no plan for Venom in the MCU. It's a Sony project."

While the news hurts a little, especially following the character's terrible portrayal in Spider-Man 3, something that fans should take away from this is that Feige doesn't completely write off the possibility of the Symbiote-powered villain appearing within the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future. However, the upcoming spinoff won't serve as that gateway.

Reuben Fleischer is slated to direct Venom for Sony, while Tom Hardy will star.

The film crawls into theatres on October 5th, 2018.
