Microsoft Announces Age Of Empires IV

More than a decade since Age Of Empires III, Microsoft has announced that a new chapter in the popular real-time strategy series is in development and coming to PC.

While there is no release date yet, Microsoft has released a launch trailer for Age Of Empires IV, and it's crammed full of some impressive concept art that is sure to have fans of the long-running series begging for more! Check it out in the player below...

The Age Of Empires series first kicked off in 1997, with players guiding a civilization from the Stone Age to the Classical period. In 1999, Age Of Empires II took the action to the Middle Ages. This was followed by the Age Of Mythology spinoff and Age Of Empires III before the game ventured into the world of online gaming with the free-to-play Age Of Empires Online.

Canada’s Relic Entertainment is behind the new game, which seems to hint at a more traditional return to what fans loved about the series in the beginning. The developer promises more updates are on the way in the coming months!

Until then, fans can also look forward to the Age Of Empires: Definitive Edition, which remasters the original 1997 game. Fans can expect that one to arrive on the Windows 10 Windows Store on Thursday, October 19th.

Check out the trailer for that one posted below...

It's an exciting time to be an Age Of Empires fan, and we can't wait for what's next!

Jurassic World Evolution Expands The Franchise

Yesterday, the long-awaited announcement trailer for Jurassic World Evolution was released.

Now, Frontier Developments has issued a press release for the highly anticipated game, which looks to expand upon the multi billion dollar franchise by allowing fans to explore mysterious Muertes Archipelago first unveiled in The Lost World: Jurassic Park.

Read the full press release posted below...

Frontier Developments plc today announced its new game, Jurassic World Evolution, and revealed the first trailer. Based on Universal Pictures’ iconic film franchise and created in collaboration with Universal Brand Development, the game expands on the official Jurassic World mythology and puts players in charge of cinema’s greatest tourist destination – where they will have the opportunity to create and manage their own Jurassic World. Launching in summer 2018, Jurassic World Evolution will be coming to PC, the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, and the Xbox One all-in-one games and entertainment system.

“As long-time fans of the entire Jurassic series we’re thrilled to be putting players in charge of their own Jurassic World,” said Frontier’s Chief Creative Officer, Jonny Watts. “We’re excited to bring over fifteen years of management, simulation, and creature development expertise to a destination and franchise that remains an inspiration to us.”

Jurassic World Evolution evolves players’ relationship with the Jurassic World film franchise, placing them in control of operations on the legendary island of Isla Nublar and the surrounding islands of the Muertes Archipelago. Players will build their own Jurassic World as they bioengineer new dinosaur breeds and construct attractions, containment and research facilities. Every choice leads to a different path and spectacular challenges arise when ‘life finds a way.’

The game is scheduled to release next summer and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will be in theatres June 2018.

There's a lot of interesting stuff to glean from this, most noticeably the ability to bioengineer new dinosaur breeds and the fact that every choice you make will change the outcome of the game! Fans can expect to find Jurassic World Evolution on shelves next summer - just in time for the theatrical release of J.A. Bayona's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Will you be adding this title to your gaming library?

The Xena Reboot Is Dead

The Xena reboot isn't moving forward at NBC.

"Nothing is happening on that right now. We looked at some material; we decided at that point that it didn't warrant the reboot," Salke told The Hollywood Reporter. "I'd never say never on that one because it's such a beloved title but the current incarnation of it is dead."

Xena: Warrior Princess was poised to get the revival treatment with a new actress in the lead role. Original series co-creator Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi were on board to oversee the reboot. Lost writer Javier Grillo-Marxuach was also attached to pen the script, but he exited the series back in April due to creative differences with the network.

Despite this, Salke says that NBC is still open to doing a Xena revival at a later date.

Starring Lucy Lawless, the original show ran from September 1995 to June 2001 starting as a spinoff from the Kevin Sorbo series Hercules. The show followed an Amazon warrior on a quest for redemption alongside her trusted companion Gabrielle.

The reboot was first announced back in July of 2015.

Katee Sackhoff Joins The Flash

Actress Katee Sackhoff has joined the cast of The Flash.

Known for roles on Battlestar Galactica and Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Sackhoff has joined the hit DC Entertainment drama in the role of Amunet Black, a.k.a Blacksmith. The character is described as a steely and badass boss of an underground black market for supervillains.

Amunet uses every means possible, including the long list of metahumans under her thumb, to ensure her illicit enterprise thrives.

Sackhoff will make her DC TV debut in the fifth episode of the show's upcoming fourth season, which is entitled Girls Night Out, and serves as a mini crossover with Arrow.

Interestingly, this will not be Sackhoff's first foray into the world of DC Comics. Back in the Fall of 2011, she voiced the character of Detective Sarah Essen in an animated take on Frank Miller's iconic 1987 graphic novel, Batman: Year One.

The Flash speeds back to TV screens on Tuesday, October 10th at 8pm.
