Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has announced plans to release Justice League: The New Frontier, the 2008 animated adaptation of the late Darwin Cooke’s seminal DC Comics classic, as a special commemorative edition.
Featuring the voice talents of Kyle MacLachlan, Jeremy Sisto, Lucy Lawless, Neil Patrick Harris, David Boreanaz, Brooke Shields, Kyra Sedgwick, Phil Morris, Keith David and the late Miguel Ferrer, Justice League: The New Frontier — Commemorative Edition will include a documentary looking into the career of Darwin Cooke alongside a host of other, currently unannounced, special features. The film will be available on DVD, Digital and Blu-Ray, however an exact release date has yet to be revealed at this time.
Cooke, who worked as a storyboard artist on Batman Beyond, Superman: The Animated Series and The New Batman Adventures, won an array of awards for his 2004 series, DC: The New Frontier. Prior to this, he also aided in launching a stylish Catwoman reboot with Ed Brubaker back in 2001, and also worked on the one-shot Batman: Ego.
Sadly, Cooke passed away last year following a battle with cancer.
While there is no official release date for the Justice League: The New Frontier — Commemorative Edition, we're guessing it'll see release in 2018, given that next year marks the tenth anniversary of the film - which also happens to be the second DC Animated Original Movie to ever be released.
