Spartacus alum Simon Merrells has joined the cast of DC's Legends Of Tomorrow.
Merrells will portray Julius Caesar in an episode that sees our heroes head to Ancient Rome.
Executive producer Phil Klemmer confirmed the casting while speaking with Comic Book Resources during San Diego Comic Con late last month.
"We start out in 2017, obviously, but we’re going to take a trip back to Ancient Rome. We’re going to have Simon Merrells — he played Julius Ceaser’s [patron Crassus] on Spartacus — who’s going to be playing Julius Ceasar on our show."
Merrells is the sixth Spartacus actor to join the DC TV Universe, joining the likes of Manu Bennett, Todd Lasance, Liam McIntyre, Nick Tarabay, and Katrina Law respectively.
The Legends have had plenty of run-ins with famed historical figures - from King Arthur to J.R.R. Tolkien, and even Star Wars director George Lucas. We've no doubt that the crew of the Waverider will have quite the interesting encounter with the famed Roman ruler when DC's Legends Of Tomorrow returns for its third season on Tuesday, October 10th.
