Last week, word dropped that DC TV mastermind Greg Berlanti was developing a Black Lightening TV show alongside showrunner spouses Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil. While many assumed the show would be joining the likes of Arrow, The Flash, Legends Of Tomorrow and Supergirl on The CW, the upcoming DC Entertainment drama has actually landed over at Fox.
The network has greenlit a pilot episode, however no further info is available at this time.
This will mark the first time that the character has appeared in live-action form, however Black Lightening has had a fair share of animated appearances over the years, being voiced by everyone from Bumper Robinson (Batman: The Brave And The Bold) to Levar Burton (Superman/Batman: Public Enemies).
While no actors are currently attached, you can read an official description of the show below...
“Jefferson Pierce made his choice. He hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hell-bent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend — Black Lightning.”
Black Lightening is not the first DC Comics adaption to land at Fox. The impressive Batman prequel series Gotham also airs on Fox, returning for its third season on Monday, September 19th.
